What To Expect On Your Visit

We look forward to your future visit to 1 CP Place!

We believe you will agree, we are unlike any doctor's office you've ever been to.

For first time patients we ask that you show up about 10-15 minutes early to allow for scanning in documents (IDs, Insurance cards, etc.) and filling out a Review of Systems on one of our iPads.  This is different than the "new patient" forms you will have already sent us, and gives the doctor a detailed assessment of your child's current condition.

Please bring the following to your appointment:

  • A pair of shorts (short enough to see your child's knees)
  • Braces / Orthotics (if applicable)
  • Walker / Gait Trainer (only if logistically feasible)
  • Any current discs with X-rays / MRIs / CT scans (we will return them to you)

After taking vitals, we will be making a few videos of your child walking (to the best of their ability) and what we call our "sitting video" where Dr. Brunstrom-Hernandez will go through a series of tasks and questions for her evaluation.

When the videos are completed, you will move to one of our spacious exam rooms.  We designed our clinic to accommodate wheelchairs and families.  Dr. Jan will then perform a thorough neurological and physical evaluation, the data will be recorded by our medical assistant.

The rest of the visit is the "lion's share" of your appointment.  It will be spent discussing concerns, issues, goals, problems, and any questions that you have about your child.  Dr. Jan will discuss applicable medications, exercises, therapies, orthotics, surgeries, equipment, and any other interventions available to help your child.

We believe that once you finish with your appointment, you will see why most of our patients come to us via referrals from other parents.

We look forward to seeing you, and helping your child Live Their Best!
